Scope of Work: The Corey Road Regional Detention and Constructed Wetlands Project is the first step in drainage improvements to help lower the tailwater along Trafalgar Drive North and South, reducing potential flooding for this neighborhood. This project is partially funded by an NCDEQ Local Assistance for Stormwater Infrastructure Investments (LASII) Program grant. This project will provide design and construction services to create a new, nature-based stormwater control measure in the form of constructed wetlands and culvert improvements under Corey Road. This wetland will be designed and constructed to adhere to the NC Stormwater Design Manual Part C: Minimum Design Criteria and Recommendations for Stormwater Control Measures. It will meet the NC statutory definition of nature-based solutions weaving natural features such as vegetated shelves and wetlands. Processes such as denitrification, infiltration, and evapotranspiration to store, infiltrate, and treat stormwater will be included, which will promote resilience, reduce flood risks, and improve water quality.
